RUMBA

Re-Used Materials Becoming Art

RUMBA is an annual art competition for school-aged kids. It is also an opportunity for all artists, amateur and professional, to have a venue to display their recycled art. If you are interested in being part of the annual art showing, or would like your art featured on our site, please contact us. We would love to meet you!

Barrie Herr has been active in promoting environmentally friendly practices, namely recycling, since the 1980s. Barrie founded and operated the Arizona Waste Exchange, which kept industrial waste out of our landfills. He is a charter member of Tucson Clean and Beautiful, and in addition to volunteering at Outreach Recycling Centers, has served on their Board. He is the originator of the RUMBA competition - Re-Used Materials Becoming Art - which has gone city wide into schools. He has received Copper Letters from two of Tucson's Mayors for his never ending volunteer efforts in recycling and waste reduction.
